One day, a rich father took his little son on a trip to the country. He wanted to show him the poverty in the world. They spent a day and a night at the farm of a very poor family.
一天，一個富爸爸帶著小兒子到鄉下旅行，想讓他看看世界上的貧窮是什麼樣子。他們在一個非常貧窮的家庭的農場呆了一天一夜。
When they got back from their trip, the father asked his son, “How was the trip?”
旅行回來後，父親問兒子：“旅行怎麼樣？”
“Very good, Dad!”
“Did you see how the lives of the poor can be?” the father asked.
“Yeah!”
“And what did you learn?”
“很好，爸爸！”
“你看到了窮人的日子是怎麼過的嗎？”父親問。
“有啊！”
“那你學到了什麼？”
After thinking for a moment, the son answered, “I saw that we have a dog at home, and they have four. We have a pool that reaches to the middle of the garden, and they have a creek that has no end. We have electric lights in the garden, and they have the stars. Our patio reaches to the front yard, and they have a whole horizon.”
想了一會兒後，兒子說：“我看到我們家養了一條狗，他們家養了4條狗；我們家的游泳池只通到花園中央，他們家有一條看不到盡頭的小溪；我們在花園裏安電燈，他們有滿天星星；我們家的天井通到前院，他們擁有整個地平線。”
When the little boy finished, his father was speechless. His son added, “Thanks, Dad, for showing how poor we are!”
小男孩說完後，他的父親沒有吭聲。他的兒子又補充道：“謝謝你，爸爸，你讓我看到了我們多麼地貧窮 ?！”
